Optional Training

892 Snowy Owl Squadron is pleased to offer the following optional training programs:

Ground School: Interested in becoming a pilot? Want to learn about how aircraft operate? Take your first steps towards pursuing a pilot license with the Air Cadet Program in the squadron’s ground school program. Cadets will complete a four-month long in-class program studying aviation.

Marksmanship Team: Hone your skills with the Daisy Air Rifle and compete with cadet corps and squadron from across the region. The Marksmanship Team competes annually, with cadets selected to participate during team tryouts in the early fall.

Drill Team: Polish up your parade boots and get ready to march! The squadron drill team sharpens their ceremonial drill and performs rehearsed silent drill routines for competition against local corps and squadron in Borden.

Effective Speaking: Learn to speak with confidence in front of large audiences. The squadron effective speaking program trains cadets to write and deliver prepared and impromptu addresses to audiences of their peers. Participants may have the opportunity to compete at the squadron, zone, provincial and national levels.

Debate Team: Cadets participating in parliamentary debate will learn how to develop arguments on topical subjects in a competitive format, similar to a debate in the House of Commons or Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The debate team competes in the OPC Ontario Debate Competition annually, with a series of prepared and impromptu debates throughout the day.
